Gambit a pawn for aggressive piece play!
In the video “Budapest Gambit” by GM James Plaskett, we are shown an attacking opening that starts with the moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e5. Black sacrifices a pawn on the second move of the game, planning on getting it back with good attacking chances and active piece play. Sometimes Black will not regain his material, but will still have good compensation for the sacrificed pawn as a rule. If White does not accept the gambit, then Black will have a perfectly sound game anyways.
After seeing the first moves of the opening, James then shows us a few ways that White can play greedy and try to hold onto the pawn. Black may or may not be able to win the pawn back, but as mentioned earlier, he has compensation in both cases. The bulk of the video talks about the main lines where Black always gets active piece play and compensation for the pawn being sacrificed early in the game.
